Macromedia Extends JRun Channel Distribution Agreement with NEC

(October 29, 2003) - Macromedia has extended a strategic distribution agreement with NEC that builds on its successful channel sales and integration of Macromedia JRun 4. The three-year contract will continue NEC's successful track record of getting developers to adopt JRun as a base product for their Web application solutions. Since its introduction, more than 10,000 organizations have chosen JRun because of its ability to help make J2EE technology accessible, approachable, and affordable.

"Macromedia believes there is an obvious need for affordable, approachable, no-hassle J2EE solutions like JRun, and the success of our partnership with NEC is evidence of that fact. By extending the agreement the two companies have shown their commitment both to the JRun product line and to this important market," said Norm Meyrowitz, president of products, Macromedia. "We remain committed to open standards and the future of Java technology, including support for the J2EE 1.4 specification when it is released."

Macromedia recently renewed its J2EE licensing agreement with Sun Microsystems, Inc. Macromedia embeds JRun in both the Macromedia ColdFusion MX and Macromedia Breeze product lines and relies on JRun to power the macromedia.com corporate Web site. Macromedia JRun was also cited as Best Web Services / Enterprise Application Integration Solution at the SIIA Codie Awards.
