Adobe Moves One Step Closer To AIR 1.0

"AIR Beta 3 is an exciting release that takes us one step closer to AIR 1.0," writes Platform Evangelist Kevin Hoyt in a recent commentary on eight changes from AIR Beta 2. "Unlike the myriad of changes introduced in the move from AIR Beta 1 to AIR Beta 2," Hoyt added, "the changes in AIR Beta 3 are far more subtle.' This stability, he noted, indicates the growing maturity of the product.

"You can read the release notes of course," wrote Hoyt - a past speaker at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo - in his blog, "but in the progress of updating my forty-plus AIR applications, here are the common changes that I encountered."

Hoyt lists those changes as follows (read his blog for the fuller account of each):

Application Descriptor File
Application Resource Directory
HTML Control Moved to MX Package
Creating a Native Window from HTML
XMLHttpRequest Limited in Classic Sandbox
Flash in HTML Now Supported
Opening a Database Connection
WebKit Drag and Drop

"
These are simply the changes that I’ve found and wanted to share with the community," Hoyt adds.
